Jordan 1 Mid
This Jordan 1 Mid follows in the footsteps of some of the earliest AJ1 colourways through its eye-catching black, white and red colour scheme, gaining it the moniker Bred Toe. The first two of these tones appear in classic fashion on the sturdy sole unit, with black across the outsole and white through the midsole. While the former feature imbues the sneaker with excellent traction thanks to its variety of grippy formations, the latter adds comfort via a pocket of Nike Air within the heel and foam cushioning under the rest of the foot.
With this solid foundation providing a supportive base underfoot, the premium leather upper can take care of the shoe’s style. It does so firstly in the midfoot, which consists of a white piece of leather that narrows into a thin line of material as it reaches around to the heel. At the back, this runs up against a small rectangle of Fire Red leather – a point at which the midfoot panels and swooshes from each flank meet and below which lies the black heel counter. Above it, meanwhile, another section of black leather appears in the form of the collar overlay. This encircles the back of the mid-top collar and connects with the black eyestay at the front. As such, it contains two eyelets for the black laces to thread through before they continue down either side of the eyestay. At the bottom, a pair of overlays extends up from the midsole to cover the final three eyelets on each side, thus forming the classic shape of the Air Jordan 1.
Around the toe, another piece of smooth black leather constitutes the mudguard, which protects the front of the foot against dirt and mud splashes. In its centre lies a Fire Red toe box punctuated with a number of small holes that make the whole structure fully breathable. Moving backwards along the top of the foot, the Fire Red tongue has a square patch of black material at its peak. Sewn into its surface is a Fire Red Jumpman and the word “Air” – a colour arrangement which has been repeated on the inside of the shoe. Here, the insole and lining are completely black, while the Jumpman is highlighted in a vibrant shade of red once more.
The brilliant Fire Red returns on the outside of the collar and again on the Air Jordan Wings that adorn the lateral side of the collar overlay. Along the sidewalls, the swooshes achieve a striking appearance using the same vivid red tone, which shines even more brightly against the pristine white midfoot panel behind it to conclude this highly desirable sneaker.
