A powerful green tone enlivens the outer of this edgy-looking Nike Air Force 1 Mid x Off-White™. Dynamic spikes protrude from the toe and midfoot of the rubber outsole, which comes in Pine Green to contrast against the white midsole. This Air-cushioned sole unit has a transparent window on its lateral side that reveals an orange support and a pouch of encapsulated Air. Above this, the topline of the midsole is regular around the front half of the shoe before contorting into a wavy edge as it moves towards the heel, for an off-kilter look.

The upper is made of smooth Pine Green leather that acts as a nod to the I-95 corridor – the Interstate Highway that runs up and down the East Coast of the United States. This lush shade of green covers all the major parts of the sneaker, from the forefoot mudguard and perforated toe box to the midfoot panels and the dual overlays that envelop the heel. It also extends to the ankle strap which wraps across the front of the mid-top collar. Here, one of the shoe’s white highlights can be seen on the tip of the strap, where it attaches to a piece of Velcro on the lateral flank.

Further white elements include the Flywire cables that lie over the traditional laces and eyestay, both of which are Pine Green to match the rest of the upper. Then there is the graffiti style Air text on the tongue, the hand and face graphics on the right and left insoles respectively, and the Nike Air branding embroidered into the heel panel. White swooshes adorn the sidewalls, zigzag white stitching holding them fast to the upper while at the same time creating a captivating aesthetic around their edges.

More hallmarks of Nike’s Off-White™ collaborations appear elsewhere on the sneaker, firstly in the form of the white zip-tie attached to the second set of laces, and then the orange tag sticking out below the tail of the lateral swoosh. The medial flank also contains four lines of white text that identify both brands, the model, the location of Nike’s headquarters and the year the first AF1 came out. The final stylish details to be found on this design are the unique logos on the lateral heel, each of which is sewn into the green upper in white. On the right foot, the word “OFF” can be seen in a sketchy style, and the left foot has a trademarked candlestick logo that fans will recognise from some other items created by designer Virgil Abloh.
