Metcon 10
The Nike Metcon was originally conceived in 2015 as an all-round training shoe to support blended workouts. In 2025, the brand celebrated a decade of the popular franchise by bringing together data from athlete insights with years of technological research and refinement on the new Metcon 10.
The Nike Metcon 10’s upper is made from breathable engineered mesh with special haptic-print overlays in the most high-wear areas of the forefoot and flanks to ensure durability without adding excess weight. Sturdy materials including a rigid TPU clip support the heel, thus improving stability and assisting with exercises like handstand push-ups. The forefoot has been widened to create space for the toes to splay out and provide a stable platform when undertaking heavy lifting. Through the midfoot, a strengthening band secures the foot as the robust lacing system is tightened, with a reinforced central eyelet and metal ringlet at the top enhancing lockdown and preventing slippage. The laces can also be tucked away inside the tongue, allowing the wearer to perform a range of dynamic, multidirectional movements without fear of tripping. Lastly, the soft interior padding cascades out at the heel, maximising comfort and making it easy to slip the shoe on and off.
A tough sole unit filled with supportive technologies provides a solid foundation for the Metcon 10. Its Hyperlift heel plate is small, lightweight and manoeuvrable while still delivering outstanding stability and control so that athletes can confidently power through squats and deadlifts. Full-length ReactX foam supplies comfort alongside a responsive, lightweight feel during short sprints and high-intensity plyometric movements. These effects are improved by the forefoot flex grooves of the flat, hard-wearing outsole, which facilitate smooth transitions as its triangular tread patterns and tacky coating produce top-level traction. The outsole features weight-reducing cutouts, and its rubber surface wraps over the toe, the heel and the sides of the midsole to protect against abrasions and help with rope climbing.
The Metcon 10 is built for athletes who like to work out in style. The contrasting textures of its upper create a mesmerising visual effect that is echoed in the angular shapes of the outsole. Nike Swooshes accent each side of the heel, with the medial one being reversed for added flair, and a third has been etched into the toe. Metcon lettering decorates the heel clip, and the series’ famous logo sits boldly on the tongue and the exaggerated lateral eyelet.
Nike’s global campaign for the Metcon 10 included elite athletes like wellness influencer Rad Lopez and performance coach Darren Tomasso. The brand also partnered with CrossFit pioneers and designers of functional fitness apparel WIT to help launch the Metcon 10 in August 2025 via the WIT x Nike Training Lab – a London-based retail space with live training events designed to showcase the shoe’s performance capabilities.
Comfortable and secure, grippy and stable yet surprisingly light and mobile, the powerful Nike Metcon 10 is a compelling all-round training shoe that concludes a decade of development.
