Pegasus Plus
In 2018, Nike expanded its running shoe range with a new racing trainer called the Pegasus Turbo. Designed to be a comfortable training shoe for everyday use, the Turbo series expanded over the next few years, and in 2024, the brand evolved its design once again, calling this latest edition the Pegasus Plus.
The key similarity between the Nike Pegasus Plus and its predecessors is the thick ZoomX foam midsole, which tapers to a distinctive wedge at the heel. This energy-returning material is spongy, lightweight and responsive, providing soft comfort, surprisingly good ground feel and a pleasant bounce during runs. Beneath it is a durable outsole made from grippy, high-abrasion rubber that has been formed into square-shaped grip pads on forefoot and heel, with exposed ZoomX foam through the midfoot. Down its centre is a striped band that pays homage to earlier models via the words “Nike Pegasus Turbo”.
At the toe and heel, this band becomes a textile racing stripe which emulates that used on the original Turbo model. The piece on the forefoot reaches up to the top of the tongue and is decorated with both a swoosh and a reflective arrow containing text that reads: “Nike Pegasus Plus.” Here, a small loop helps to keep the thin tongue from slipping when the laces are threaded through it. Yet more reflective elements appear on the heel and eyelets to ensure that the shoe remains visible at night.
The rest of the upper has been woven together from flexible Flyknit, with perforations placed in strategic locations so as to ventilate the foot without compromising on durability in high-wear areas. Combined with the midfoot band, this material offers a snug fit around the foot, thus holding it in place during long running sessions.
Aesthetically, the Pegasus Plus features dynamic colour gradients and has striking swooshes on each flank, the lateral one being much larger than that on the medial side. The soft insole visually continues the racing stripe seen on the outer, with capitalised Nike lettering printed along its length. In honour of the running shoe’s famous name, a set of wings has been embossed subtly onto the medial heel of the midsole.
All of these performance features make the Nike Pegasus Plus a great shoe for relaxed, everyday running at short to middle distances, while the collection of vibrant colourways allows the athlete to train in style.
